I just paid for the 2.5.0 and received my activation code.

Every time I start BCN DE I have to reenter the activation code.  Is this the way it is suppose to work?  I am use to registering applications once and then they are good to go.

Love the program, my old eyes like planing and reviewing on the larger screen then transferring to my PPC.  Cheesy

Great work Nathan and team. Wink

No.

I'll try to find out what is going wrong.

Do you consistently get the same DeviceID when starting the program? You should.

I don't know, I will check it out.

Looks like the same code, it is a long son of a gun.  I have 30 days showing up as trial today too, if that helps any.

I suspect there may be some access settings on Registry.

Can you run regedit and see if you see anything in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\CritterMap\BackCountryNavigator

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\CritterMap Software\BackCountry Navigator Desktop Edition\{64BFB9DC-B6E5-5219-6333-FD7D1D2D10F2}  Data (shows the location on my computer as Documents and Settings ******* for my computer name.

(Default) Data (value not set)

Is this what you were wanting?

I see that too, but is there anything in

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\CritterMap\BackCountryNavigator

when typed exactly as shown?

It could be a problem if not.

Just the two I showed.  They are both empty.  I am looking at the Critter
Map Software.  The keys as copied are

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\CritterMap Software

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\CritterMap Software\BackCountry Navigator Desktop Edition

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\CritterMap Software\BackCountry Navigator Desktop Edition\{64BFB9DC-B6E5-5219-6333-FD7D1D2D10F2}

If I go to

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\CritterMap Software  without the Desktop Edition  I get

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\CritterMap\BackCountryNavigator

with a default and a License Key

Under that is

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\CritterMap\BackCountryNavigator\Settings2X

So it looks like I have 2

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\CritterMap Software

one with Desktop Edition

In the LicenseKey space there should be an unreadable string of approximately 120 characters.

I suspect that the program is having trouble in Vista either reading or writing that string. I'll send you some more instructions later today by email.

It looks like a long unreadable string.  By the way I am XP not Vista.  Thanks Nathan.

I am not surprised, you are fantastic.  No rush it is functional and great, at least for 27 more days.  I knew you would figure it out! Kiss
