view gpx tracks on google earth

Many of you probably already know this, but some might not - There is a cool way to easily view (or show others) the gpx file from your latest outdoor adventure. Simply drag the file on top of a freshly opened session of Google Earth. As soon as you let go the mouse button, you experience the view of a spaceship moving from earth orbit to a hover position over the approprite area, and the track line from the gps file is draw on the terrain.
Maybe I'm easily amused, but I thought that was pretty cool.

Interestingly, now that we've added time to the ".GPX" files, Google Earth no longer automatically shows the track when you drag and drop. Instead, it shows some sort of time bar with some speed controls, so that presumably you can play back the trip in some multiple of real time progress, I guess. Does anybody know how to manipulate the Google Earth controls to make the tracks display?
As a stopgap, I'm using a utility program to take out the time lines from the file and this allows it to display like it used to.

Sorry to take so long answering, I just now saw this.
It's actually an excel worksheet that I set up. I paste the GPX file into the worksheet and then use the @if() and @search() functions to select the text I want to keep, which I put in another column. I copy that formula all the way down, then copy out the column with the text I want to keep into a new GPX file.
