cant find gps device on axim 5

I have tried new and old version and it cant detect gps
Which is a cf que garmin. . This is the error mesg I get
"No device detedted .Check that the device is avalible and set to NMEA mode "
No idea how to do this .
The Garmin works fine with garmin software that came with it . This is not a bluetooth unit .
HELP please . Huh

The GPS needs to output NMEA, not the garmin specific protocol that the other software is using.

Some claims have been made that the 1620 can't be changed to NMEA mode, although later Garmin models can.

Garmin would know for sure, so be sure to ask them how to switch it to NMEA mode.

So does this mean if the garmin cannot be changed that i cannot use this software ?

Yes, unfortunately, you can't use the GPS with it if it doesn't switch. 99.9% of devices do support the standard NMEA protocol, including most Garmin devices. Up till now, I don't know of one that doesn't but this could be the first.

Unfortunately also, this might be a problem for most non-Garmin software that you would think of using on your Axim.
