I am trying to run the back country software on my sprint mogul with win 6.1. It loads and runs until I do a soft reset. After that when I try to run it, it acts like it is starting but doesnt. ANy ideas?

I have 14-17 meg free of memory. I am also running latest rom.

No definite ideas yet. Here are some things to try:

1. If you have been using a map file, try renaming it before starting.
2. See if there is a file called BCNav2log.txt (Browse the device from ActiveSync). If so, copy it over and email it to support.
3. Was the GPS working for you before this happened?

The BCNav2Log.txt, if it exists, is in the \My Documents directory on the device. This folder will come up if you push explore on ActiveSync. You will probably have to copy it over to your hard drive in order to email it.

I'm having trouble with my Mogul as well. I installed the software and it runs just fine. With the exception that it doesn't recognize the internal GPS. It wants to search the serial ports for an external GPS device. How do I tell it to pick the built-in GPS?

Internal GPS use a serial port just like an external GPS. That alone doesn't indicate anything wrong.

Check to see if you have "Manage GPS Automatically" checked in the GPS Settings. (Settings->System->GPS). If this is checked, BCN should find something like "Shared NMEA device". When that's checked, though, it assumes that the other GPS settings are correct.

John Bowman in another post says he has everything working on the Mogul. I'm trying to find out what settings he is using.

From another user, it is suggested you use COM4 and 115200 baud and hit connect.

Ok... new problem. Since I didn't get the original version to work, I removed it. I just downloaded the latest version to see if it worked any better or at all, however, it now says I have 0 days left on the trial. Is there something I can do to reset the 21 day trial? I would love for this to work. Our scout troop does alot of outdoor activities with topo maps and orienteering and this would help tremendously.

By now, you should have instructions to reset the trial period.

Thanks for the trial reset. I got the software working. Initially, the program didn't find the GPS. When I hit the auto-detect button to find the GPS, I got an error message...something about a problem with device.exe and it was going to report this problem to Microsoft. I then tried manually setting the com port to com4 and 115,200. I hit the connect button but got no response. I then went into the "External GPS" settings under Start>settings>System. I clicked on the Programs tab and set the GPS Program port to COM4. The Access tab is checked to Manage GPS automatically.  When I returned to the program, it had found the NMEA GPS and the program was working. It found 10 satellites floating around me. Smiley
I downloaded some topo maps and ran my battery down by 25% testing the program. If anyone needs any assistance with the settings, I would be glad to assist anyone thru the forums.
