Nathan - Congrats twice.  Once on the new child and second on the V.2 software.  Very cool.

Ok I admit it I am a map hog.  I want as wide an area as possible to show up and I want to get as much detail as possible.  hog, hog, hog.

In 1.x I am/was able to download a 20x20 in 1:1 mode that allowed me very good detail in both topo and aerial.  My bmd file size is 385mb.

In 2.1 I tried to grab a 25mi x 25mi in 1:1 mode and although I was able to pull down something, db3 file size is 55.9mb, it seems to only support a wide angle aerial view.

I noticed the Dell X50v kept giving me program memory errors and asking me to shut down BC2.1 or ActiveSynch, which would have killed the map download.

Any thoughts or suggestions?  BTW, what does 1:1 mode get you, or what do you give up w/o that checked?

Cheers and Happy Fourth!

1:1 provides you more detailed aerial maps only. 1 pixel to 1 meter. The highest Topo will go is 1 pixel to 4m.

You wouldn't notice any difference up to the 1000 ft scale. I'd reccommend them for more focused areas within a bigger map. A map with this scale downloaded is about 16 times as big as one without it.

For areas as big as you are downloading, it may not be worth it.
