Map Download and GPX Questions

Is there anyway to download the map on my PC and tranfer it to my WM5 device? I have 34mb available on my WM5 device for programs even though the map is going to my SD card the download aborts when the file size reaches 34mb. I can actually see the file size of the map on my SD going up at the same rate that my available memory in the program space going down on my device. It seems that downloading on my PC would be much faster to download also
The map I am downloading is 9mb without 1:1 so with 1:1 it looks like it is going to be about 65mb or so. I know the map size can be unlimited but if the map is too big will it bog down the app?
Is there a limit to importing GPX files? I have a file with about 900 gpx caches in it and when I import it it hangs and each cache has only about 2/3 of the cache information in it. My GPX file has caches within 50 miles and my map is only about 15 miles.

If the memory is continually decreasing during a download, that is a problem and not expected behavior. I'm going to do some research to see if I can reproduce this. For whatever reason, the memory manager may have trouble releasing memory as it goes along, which is what it should do.
When it fails, does it fail with an OutofMemoryException or some other message?
We are looking at revising our download process as well as options for a desktop app. I can't say for sure yet that desktop download is faster, but it will have less memory restrictions.
I have successfully imported large GPX files in the past. It could be something in the GPX file that's hanging it up, or it could be some memory problems again. If you can send the GPX file to support at backcountry navigator dot com, I can have it looked at.
