Can't download maps anymore - still have 25 days left of trial.
Hi there... great job with BCN. I have used it for several years now. I was trying the desktop version and downloaded a couple of maps. But now I tried to download another map and when it pulls up the download region box it says it is downloading 0/0 tiles. I have tried other areas even areas of other states with no luck. I still have 25 days left of my trial. I was wondering if there were a limited number of downloads on the trial or if the server was down or something? I love this feature and if I can get it to work again, I am going to buy this one too. Thanks for your help.

Wondering, Jerry from PA. Had similar problems with Terra-Serra usa several months ago. There seem to be a problem with that site. Now, I tried it again no problems. Microsoft must have been doing updates because now it runs a lot faster at least what I download in PA. What part of the country are you in ??? For the fun of it see if you can download something from PA (like Blakeslee, PA). Have a great evening.
The trial version itself won't limit the number of downloads.
Could you post what area you are downloading? I could check for anomalies in that area.
I am in Tulsa, OK. I have downloaded a couple areas of the city, but I am trying to download maps to Turkey Mountain Park specifically. I have tried other parts of the country with no luck. I have not tried any in PA yet.
I have tried Turkey Mountain Park and definitely encountered some anomalies. This is at the UTM Zone seam, around which Terraserver does have some issues. I have not seen it become completely unusable as it has at Turkey Mountain Park.
I think these issues can be worked around by second guessing what terraserver returns to us.
I tested this out using 64M topos. Using 37.6N/78.7W anything under 70x70 downloads. However, Google Earth says the UTM boundry is about 80miles east. 80x80 fails. The topo maps agree that 80miles east is the UTM boundry. Tried this with both desktop and mobile versions. Both fail instantly. It is like it does't even try to ask the server for the tiles. Instant download complete message.
Expanded the 70x70 mile test to 70x200 and it works...doesn't cross the UTM boundry.
Since this time, BackCountry Navigator has been updated to automatically split rectangles on UTM Boundaries. Note that there will still be some interesting effects at display time due to the limitations of the UTM Projection.
