Starting a Map Preview.
Initially, the screen is blank, and you probably want to pick a Map Source when prompted. You can also do this from Map Src->Maps on the Menu.

There are many map sources, but one of the most popular is MyTopo.com.
Centering on a Place.
The next step is to center the map on a place that is meaningful for both you and the map you have chosen. Choose Find Places in the menu, then type the name of place.


The map will center on the place you have chosen, if found.

Downloading Offline Maps
To further prepare for an outdoor adventure, you may want to download map sections so they be available when you are out in the wild, and beyond cell phone range.
Selecting an area:
The toolbar buttons on the map allow you to select an area by marking one or more rectangles on the screen. Rectangles may overlap.


Pressing the download button will then initiate a download. Progress is updated through notifications.


You have the option to cancel the download after clicking on the notification.


Importing a Geocaching file
The easiest way to start geocaching with an Android phone is to have a pocket query sent to the email address on you phone. Here we click the Preview button on the attachment to start the import.


The geocache waypoints are then available on the map. Press and hold on a waypoint to identify or load the waypoint information, which also contains the description and clues for the geocache.


Starting a trip file.
A trip file is a collection of related waypoints. Starting a trip file before defining waypoints. Use the GPS Data menu to start or load a trip file.


When starting a trip file give it a descriptive name, such as CraterLakeHike.

Marking a WayPoint
Waypoints can be marked on a map in two different ways
- Press and hold on the map screen to mark a location on the map. If you know more precise coordinates for this location, you can enter them in the form.
- When navigating, use the target button to mark the current GPS Point


Either will bring up the waypoint form, where you may add name, description, notes and/or more precise coordinates. You may use the symbol button to change the symbol, or the GOTO button to start navigating toward the point.
