Connect - Disconnect from GPS Automatically

I am using this program on ETEN X800. Unfortunately, battery life when the GPS is on is very short (4 h) and not enough for a serious hike. In order to extend battery life, I am now manually connecting – disconnecting while hiking. It would be nice to have an option of automatically disconnecting from GPS for an adjustable period of time, then reconnecting automatically, and keeping connected to another adjustable time period after signal acquisition.
