Custom icons?
Is it possible to make my own custom icons for waypoints? I'd even consider modifying the existing ones to make them match what I'm working on at the moment. I have done extensive work in Photoshop and could make icons fairly quickly, but I don't know where they are stored on the DroidX. Thanks.

They are not in a user accessible location now.
Would the icons you want be of interest to others, or are they field specific?
OK, no problem. Just thought I'd ask.
The icons I'm thinking of wouldn't mean anything to others.
I would like to have smaller wapypoint icons, especially when zoomed out. maybe one thats just a small red dot or triangle.
When I import a gpx file with waypoints they show up in a bubble with question marks, thats rather annoying. If there are many waypoints it is too much work to edit them all on screen.
thanks for your consideration.
Great APP!
The ability to create custom icons would, in my opinion, greatly enhance what is already a very useful product. From your comment, do I take it that this is a facility that you are proposing to add in the future?
I agree. In my opinion, the current default symbols are too large. They end up covering too much of the map. It would be nice if you could include a default set of small colored squares, circles, triangles, etc., as well as the ability to import your own icons.
Great application, by the way!
Today's release lets you adjust the size of icons in a couple ways. Getting some more simple symbols may take another week.
Before this last Pro update, my .GPX files were imported fine, but the orginal icons symbols weren't being shown. However, after this last update, the Pacific Crest Trail icons (from Halfmile...waypoints and tracks) were displayed perfectly. For example, instead of pink circle ?, I get the orignal red triangle. Now water sources, trail junctions, campsites...etc show up. I no longer need to manually changed the icons!
I have to give this app 5 stars. Thanks Nathan and company.
PS: If I want to create a very basic GPX file from data in Excel (...using VBA), how would I code the symbol data so that when I import it into BCN, the symbols are detected? Specifically, do I need BCN's unique symbol names to accomplish this?
THANK YOU!
It's not a coincidence; I have been talking with Halfmile.
It may be a few more weeks before we recognize them all, but we aim to recognize most MapSource icon names. One unofficial guide for them is here:
