Droid X Altitude puzzle
Great software! Noticed an altitude puzzle. While positions and elevation at specific locations was good gain seems to add about 1000 feet. We were hiking a gentle trail, and old road. Not more than 100 gain from dips along the way.

A GPS (not just an Android one) is known to jump around wildly in altitude even with you standing in one place. It is often refining the measurement or just getting it wrong. So hardware is to blame.
Android does not report the vertical and horizontal accuracy separately, so that limits our ability to filter this. If the horizontal accuracy is good and the vertical is not, we probably don't know.
