Droid X experiment

Just to share some ideas and results that made my second hike with BCN go better than my first hike.

Drove in to TH with GPS on and airplane off, phone on AC. When I turned airplane on GPS continued to track reliably including in sleep/screen lock. Better than acquiring at TH. Also helps nav forest roads!

Used 40% of extended in-phone battery in 4 hours. Included camera use but no tunes. Temp high 40s. Winter temps might decrease battery life.

Point list shows distance to points. Helps grin test map location by estimating how far I am between 2 points.

Trip stats looked good at end of hike except gain error. Posted in separate topic.

Gpx data transfer to & from NatGeo Topo works great. Same topo graphics!

Topo graphics much better than my Garmin Oregon. What do I do with that?
