Importing data and updating waypoint symbols and other geocaching questions

By BooDaddy - Posted on 06 September 2008

Hi, I have been using this program and like it so far.
I have some questions.
Right now I use the desktop version to download maps, and import waypoints cause its faster than on my PPC.

I normally have a HUGE map file and tons of waypoints (about 2000) at any time. and I use this for geocaching, so I get my pocket queries every weekend that has updated waypoiny symbols of the caches i found the previous weekend.

I want to know if I import a pocket query .gpx that has updated found waypoints, how does BC Navigator handle that?  does it simply update the old unfound waypoint with the new found symbol? or does it just create a new duplicate?

Ideally I would like to be able to just dowload my maps the one time, then every weekend just import my .gpx files from my pocket query, so it would change all my old unfound caches to found symbols and add in any new caches that have been placed since my last import.

Will it work this way?

It is not very sophisticated in replacing waypoints when importing. In gerneral, it is hard to tell if a waypoint is really the same because it has the same name.

I'd suggest this.

Action->List->Waypoints. Then push Delete All. You can then import the new GPX and not have any conflicts or duplicates.
