MyTopo.com topo maps to be featured in BackCountry Navigator for Android

Through a partnership with MyTopo.com, new topo maps will be featured in BackCountry Navigator for Android.

These maps have the same information as the USGS Topo maps, but have shading and sharper image quality.

Here is an example:

MyTopo.com maps also cover Canada. You will be able to to preview and download these maps for offline use as easily as other maps in BackCountry Navigator.

MyTopo.com also give users the opportunity to order a custom, waterproof printed map, a good thing for both safety and convenience.

To learn more the maps, visit the MyTopo.com online map viewer.  While you are there, be sure and order a printed map as a show of support for these maps in BackCountry Navigator.

Nathan,
MyTopo MapPass / Terrain Navigator Pro offers some paid higher-quality maps (enhanced relief shading, 1:24,000 and 1:25,000).

Are you planning to add support for such maps (downloaded to PC and then transferred from PC to Android Phone)?

The maps we are using are equivalent to 1:24000 if you zoom to level 15, and they are relief shaded. There are some differences, though. I' may need to contact you by email to find out more.

If there is enough interest in these paid options, I will find out if doing that is feasible and acceptable under MyTopo.com's terms.
