Need help Getting Desktop to run.
I just downloaded Desktop and it doesnot want to run on my computer. I read about running under administrator but I don't have that option the program causes vista to say something about is it from trusted source. I say yes. then get this popup saying do you want to remove or fix installation.
Would not work so I downloaded .NET 2.0 Framework Desktop Installer
I downloaded the .NET 2.0 Framework Desktop Installer program only to find that after 1 hour downloading vista says it is already part of the system.
Still doesnot work and I need to download maps somehow??????
HELP
THANKS

That almost sounds like it is already installed. Can you go to your programs menu and find a BackCountry Navigator link that will start the program?

Hello Nathan,
You are right again it was there. I was able to enter a name and terra server found several close points. I enter the point closest to what I wanted and selected topo cause that is all I wanted. I was finally able to downloads 36 sections on the third try. I have no idea what was downloaded???? :-[
I tried opening the file on the Pda using the data page but the sd card was not mentioned. >:( so I have a file that don't know what it contains and can't read it.
Perhaps you could pick a area then give step by step detailed guides to follow then I could ask specific questions to clarify points for all interested individuals. This could then be saved as a reference guide.
I have reviewed the software guide and it kinda does this but does not answer my questions well enough.
Thanks getting there slowly

You should be able to tell what was downloaded in any case. Flip over to the map screen and switch between Aerial and Topo as needed. You can do this in BackCountry Navigator Desktop to make sure the file has what you want in the beginning.

Was the file you put there mentioned? The Open dialog mentions all the .db3 files it finds. I don't imagine you have a huge number yet. The location might say "SDMMC" or "SD Card", but at least for me, that is so far to the right I'd have to scroll.
There is a size increase in the files I named that were downloaded however when I go to the Map page I just see a red X contours nothing just an X.
I tried putting the card in the Pda and when I choose cancel to open existing map I get a list of maps. I click on the map I want nad receive a note Saying Error Opening Datafile
Error Opening file:\SD card\hiking area.db3.Some kind of disk I/O error occurred

A red X? This is interesting enough to merit a screen shot.
If you tell me how I will post it.
