Problem with GPS lock
Hi all,
just downloaded BCN, great sw! However, I have the following problem. The BCN cannot seem to connect to the embedded GPS module and goes from state Fix to NoFix with constant change of amount tracked satelites. I use it on a HTC Touch Pro (T7272) with auto detect the GPS.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

Hi all, seems that it is a GPS issue because when I used a Bluetooth one it is working fine.
I have a HTC Fuze (AT&T), running WM6.1.
BCN detects the Qualcomm gps on com4@9600.
However, it only works occasionally. When I click on Connect, it usually says nothing is received on the shared NMEA-0183 data stream..
I did get it working a couple of times, enough for a 3d connection to the sats (no elevation data tho)..
Google Maps works fine. GPS Test works, but takes awhile to get a fix.
Running a trial version, plan to buy if I can get it working reliably...
OK, changing the baud from 9600 to 57600 did wonders (as recommended in other posts for other fixes).
It works now, even from within my house.
Why did it choose 9600 be default??
Were the control panel settings set to 9600 baud?
These are the settings that BCN will use by default.
I just downloaded BCN and put it on my Sprint Treo Palm, running WM 6. For some reason it can't see the imbedded GPS.
I tried the switch to 57600 baud, but no luck. BCN does detect the GPS though. GPS also does not work in Google maps.
Can't figure out what's switched off maybe.
Any ideas?
Thanks

What model number of Treo are you using? It may not have much in common with the HTC Fuze.
Greetings,
I also Have downloaded the BCN Trial onto my HTC Touch Pro(Verizon)and I cannot seem to get it to connect either. I have downloaded another GPS program and can get it to with a bluetooth external GPS device but i am having no luck with BCN. I like the looks of BCN but I want it to work before I make a choice to purchase it.
Hi, Wilkerson.
I have several people who've had success with the HTC Touch Pro. I'm asking around to see if they did anything special.
Form what I've read, Verizon has tried to lock other programs out of the GPS, and you might need a firmware update to get to it.

You say you have used a bluetooth GPS that did work with other software? Unlike internal gps, which occassionally have their oddities, bluetooth gps usually works seemlessly with BCN. Have you already pared the bluetooth GPS? What settings did you use with the other software?
If there are settings in the control panel (settings->System->GPS), BCN will assume they are correct, and that is what it will find in detection.
Hello Nathen, thanks for the reply.
I Did finally get the blue tooth to work after 6 days workign through issues. i saw that there was a download @
http://www.htc.com/www/supportdownloadlist.aspx?p_id=140&act=sd&cat=all
that had a hotfix for GPS issues. after i downloaded the fix and reset a couple of times I did get my bluetooth device to work with software. I am using the Holux M-1200. If is very small and works very well as a GPS reciever for those intrested.(as I was when trying to learn about the software)
Secondly, I can detect the internal GPS device through the BCN software, it is A Qualcomm (NMEA 0183) MSM7201A GPSOne, Shared GPS device. When I try the connect button it will not acquire Sats. I called Verizion tech support and all they will tell you is information that You can already find on the forums here.
let me try your link and will report back later.
Very Good News I did have the older FirmWare version. I will update to 1.08 that should unlock my Internal GPS card to use with BCN.
Great. If these hotfixes and ROM updates are helpful for people (they both seem recent), we'll want to spread the word.
Perhaps HTC is realizing that their GPS should actually work and behave properly.
