Where can I find Step by Step instructions for new user with desktop version

I downloaded the trial version for desktop to see if this software is what I'm looking for. Where can I find simple step by step instructions ?

I've downloaded maps and they didn't have enough detail for hiking so I tried again at 1/4 and now maps are not saved to file when download is complete. Nothing shows on screen. Nothing in saved files.

I need step by step instruction manual...
