Where to obtain GPX Files

By tboyflyer - Posted on 08 September 2010

I have recently purchased BC Navigator and I have discovered that there are not too many avenues to download gpx files without paying for them. Trimble and GPS Sports are 2 examples. Is there an open sharing site that anyone knows about to up and download trip files.

Trimble Outdoors web site will let you download GPX files without having their software, though you do need a login.

Another site is called Everytrail.com. This one does have an open API, so we may be able to make that a menu item in BackCountry Navigator.

Travelbygps.com is another one.

Even with all of these, it seems like I need to search the web for "GPX file <Place of Interest>."

I was able to download and import a gpx from every trail. Thank you. The most usefull information to me is available campsites, trail heads and kayak put in & take out points. These are the main chords of trip planning and I am looking to find information from a populace that may have identified some of these waypoints while trekking or boating to make trip planning less cumbersome and time consuming. Therefore a search option for gpx files by location would be helpful for me. Thanks for the tips and keep them coming if you can...
